Yaffa Balsam is your stepfamily therapist in Orange County. She helps remarried couples with children balance a second or a third marriage and cope with the complex issues of co-parenting.

Remarried couples explore their strengths as couples and improve on their communication and conflict-resolution skills, while developing healthy boundaries with their children and former spouses.

Yaffa Balsam believes that many potential conflicts in stepfamilies can be avoided through education about the stepfamily process. She teaches people about cultural myths concerning stepparents and stepchildren, and helps them set realistic expectations for their families that will assist in creating the cohesiveness and sense of belonging that they so need.

• Stepfamily Support Group: a FREE ongoing support group, open for both men and women in stepfamilies. We meet the second Monday of every month, from 6:30-8:00 P.M. Join us in sharing, exploring, and supporting each other in our stepfamilies' processes. Please, RSVP, as seating is limited.

Yaffa Balsam, MFT, has been involved in the LOS ANGELES CHAPTER OF THE STEPFAMILY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA for over 20 years. She has developed and facilitated a variety of support groups for the association. Yaffa also served as a board member for several years, and was the chapter president for 6 years. Her understanding of the sensitive issues arising to all the children involved from having the “our child” in a step family has enabled her to help families transition and adjust to the new reality with joy.

Yaffa is a certified Somatic Experiencing practitioner. It is a naturalistic approach to help people heal from different traumas; e.g. wars, car accidents, robberies, child abuse, and terrorism's aftermath.
